Privacy Policy
Vydeo.ORG and Vydeo Clips are managed by Apache Web Services, a company in Dallas, Texas. This policy explains how we handle information for the Vydeo website, app, API, and Chrome extension.
1. What Vydeo Does
Vydeo helps users organize video references, timestamp clips, tags, notes, teams, studios, and reaction or research workflows. Vydeo Clips is a Chrome extension that stores timestamp-based YouTube clips. It does not download videos, trim videos, export video files, or process video files.
2. Information We Collect
Depending on how you use Vydeo, we may collect:
- Account details, such as name, email address, password hash, profile settings, roles, and authentication tokens.
- Workspace information, such as studios, teams, members, permissions, and invite relationships.
- Content you save, such as video URLs, titles, tags, clips, timestamps, notes, descriptions, projects, and related metadata.
- Extension data stored locally in your browser, such as YouTube URLs, titles, thumbnails, timestamps, tags, notes, projects, settings, and your Vydeo API token.
- Limited YouTube page information needed for the extension's user-facing clipping feature, including the current YouTube URL, video title or metadata when available, and current playback time.
- Payment or subscription information processed through our payment provider when paid services are used.
- Technical information, such as IP address, browser type, device information, server logs, error logs, and security events.
- Messages you send us through contact, support, or account-related workflows.
3. How We Use Information
We use information to:
- Provide, maintain, secure, and improve Vydeo and Vydeo Clips.
- Save and organize your clips, videos, tags, notes, workspaces, and projects.
- Authenticate API requests and allow premium users to publish extension clips to Vydeo.
- Associate invited collaborators with the sharer's studio and team when a valid workspace invite is accepted.
- Provide customer support, troubleshoot errors, prevent abuse, and comply with legal obligations.
- Manage subscriptions, billing, and account status.
4. Chrome Extension Data
Vydeo Clips is local-first. By default, clips and notes are stored in the user's browser through IndexedDB/localForage. The extension sends data to Vydeo.ORG only when a user saves a Vydeo API token and chooses to publish clips or create a workspace invite. Publishing sends source video URLs, clip titles, start and end times, duration, timestamp links, and tags. The extension does not sell data and does not use browsing activity except as needed for its visible clipping feature on YouTube pages.
5. Sharing Information
We do not sell personal information. We may share information with:
- Service providers who help operate hosting, security, email, analytics, support, and payments.
- Google, YouTube, and the Chrome Web Store as needed for browser, extension, and YouTube-related functionality.
- Stripe or other payment processors when subscriptions or payments are used.
- Workspace collaborators when you share or publish content inside the same studio or team.
- Authorities or other parties when required by law, to protect rights, or to prevent fraud or abuse.
6. Chrome Web Store Limited Use
The use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Vydeo limits use of extension data to providing and improving the timestamp clipping, publishing, and collaboration features disclosed to users.
7. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards to protect information. No system is perfectly secure. Users are responsible for keeping their account credentials and API tokens private.
8. Data Retention and Choices
Browser-local extension data remains on the user's device until the user deletes it or clears browser storage. Vydeo account and workspace data is retained as needed to provide the service, meet legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements. Users may request account or data assistance through the contact options on Vydeo.ORG.
9. Children's Privacy
Vydeo is not intended for children under 13. Do not use Vydeo or Vydeo Clips if you are not old enough to consent to these terms under applicable law.
10. Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. The updated version will be posted on Vydeo.ORG with a new effective date.
